Practice chapter questionsA 4-week study plan that actually works
This plan assumes 1–2 hours of daily study. Adjust the pace up or down based on your testing experience, but keep the weekly mock-test cadence — timed practice is what turns syllabus knowledge into exam performance.
Chapters 1–2: Fundamentals + Testing across the SDLC
- Read syllabus chapters 1 & 2 end to end
- Build a flashcard deck for the ISTQB glossary terms
- Attempt 20 questions on Chapter 1 sample bank
Chapter 3 + start Chapter 4: Static Testing + Test Techniques
- Practice equivalence partitioning and boundary value analysis by hand
- Draw at least 3 decision tables from real scenarios

Chapter 6 + full-length mocks + revision
- Read Chapter 6 (Test Tools) — light content, high recall value
- Take 2 full 40-question mock tests in strict 60-minute conditions
- Rework every wrong answer against the syllabus wording
5 exam tips from testers who passed on the first attempt
Read the syllabus — twice
The exam paraphrases syllabus wording almost verbatim. If you can restate a learning objective in one sentence, you can answer questions on it.
Focus on Chapters 4 & 5
They contribute ~50% of the exam's total points. Master test-design techniques and test management before touching Chapter 6.
Practise K3 questions on paper
K3 questions (apply-level) in Chapter 4 need you to actually derive test cases. Draw the decision tables and state transition diagrams by hand.
Take at least 3 timed mocks
Sitting a 60-minute full mock reveals pacing issues you won't catch by solving 10 questions at a time.
Keep an error log
Every wrong answer goes into a log with the syllabus reference. Review the log the day before your exam — this beats re-reading textbooks.
