QA Lead Interview Preparation

Three topic buckets that appear in nearly every QA Lead interview loop.

Technical topics

  • Walk through a quality strategy you've owned
  • How do you measure escape rate and tester productivity?
  • When do you stop investing in automation?
  • Pick a flaky pipeline — how do you fix it as a leader, not an IC?

Scenario-based topics

  • Design a 90-day plan for a new QA team
  • A release misses a P0 — what's your incident response?
  • Two squads disagree on test ownership — how do you resolve it?

Behavioral questions

  • Tell me about a tester you grew into a senior role
  • A difficult stakeholder conversation about scope vs quality
  • A hire who didn't work out — what did you learn?
